Breaking: Another Stay for John Errol Ferguson

From the Associated Press:

MIAMI (AP) — A federal judge has granted a stay of execution for a convicted mass killer in Florida who is mentally ill and was scheduled to be executed on Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Daniel T. K. Hurley on Saturday granted a motion for a stay for John Errol Ferguson, who was to be executed Tuesday after 34 years on Florida’s death row. A hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Attorneys for Ferguson contend that the Florida Supreme Court erred in determining that Ferguson was mentally competent and could be executed. Ferguson’s attorneys maintain he is insane.

The 64-year-old Ferguson was convicted of killing eight people including six who died execution-style in 1977 in Carol City, which at the time was the worst mass slaying in Miami-Dade County history. He also was convicted of killing a teenage couple from Hialeah in 1978.

  1. As far as I’m aware and have been informed, the supreme court had given Tuesday the 23rd of October as John’s execution date..has he been given another stay?

Another million dollars to keep this executioner alive. These victims had Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Grandmothers and Grandfathers and God knows how many friends? Funny how 2 weeks before his ticket comes up he demands rights. All of a sudden he is prince of God. Nothing but a COWARD who is afraid to die just as much as his victims were.

Has anyone been wondering how someone stays on Death Row for 34 years, when both of his co-defendants in the six Carol City murders were both executed by the state in the early 80s. Very simply the best legal firm in the nation(Hogan & Lovell) based in Washington DC.
Now you are wondering… how is John Ferguson paying their $1,200.00 per hour legal fees?
Of course their services are provided Pro Bono (Free) and its written off on the firms taxes as a charitable contribution. Well………guess who contibuted more than 100 hours of his time to defending John Ferguson? None other than Chief Justice John Roberts of the US Supreme Court, who was a senior partner of the firm for many years before he became Solicitor General, then ascended to the Supreme Court. The senior partners at the firm have openly committed to protecting the legacy of John Roberts by throwing their very best legal minds and all the influence they have in the legal system to playing the State of Florida to a tie over John Ferguson. The chances that John Ferguson will be executed are no better than 5%. He will die in prison and he will have gone out the winner.

I wouldn’t doubt it. It may all be a conspiracy with these death row inmates to fleece the taxpayers. Good comment! I wouldn’t be surprised. He is already the winner whether they execute him or not. In Texas he would have been dead 20 years ago. Maybe more. He got to live 35 years after the fact and I also think they are taking in consideration his age too. Whats the use now?

They should just leave him on death row and not sign any more warrants. Life in prison is a country club compared to death row. Prison you can move about and socialize with other inmates. Death row you are in a small cell 23 hours a day.
