A day before his scheduled execution, Paul Augustus Howell may have received a temporary stay.
Update: Scratch that. I’ve been told Howell’s appeal has been transferred to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta. Not sure what’s happening with it, but as far as I know now, a stay has not been granted.
According to a Jamaican news site (Howell is Jamaican), “one of his attorneys Michael Ufferman revealed this morning that the judge agreed to stay the execution to allow him more time to further appeal his case.”
No other media is reporting this ruling however.
Prosecutors will of course appeal the ruling, if it is in fact the case.
Hat tip to Heidi of cncpunishment for bringing this to my attention.
